I’ve always been a so-called graphic designer, even before I was cognizant of the term. At a young age, you could find me drawing typography, analyzing magazine covers, and making books for the fun of it. It never crossed my mind that it was a potential career. After feeling out of place and uninterested in a different major, I realized design would be my calling. I believe design is a creative solution to our everyday problems. We are the working man’s artist. I am a firm believer in a balance between functionality and aesthetics.
Now more than ever, graphic design is at a great crossroads between art, business, culture, and technology. It is a creative machine that collaborates and brainstorms its way to visual solutions. As a graduate from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s in Communication Design, that is one of the many things my experience at UConn has taught me. Outside of design, I am an avid hip hop listener, a soccer fan that doesn’t play enough these days, and a foodie whose budget is never quite sufficient enough for the amount that I spend. Like many others, I am trying to find my place in this world. A niche that I can find comfort in as well as challenging, doing work that pays well and is fulfilling.
